This really resonated with me as I've gone through almost all 5 of these pivots. I think some of these pivots as well are made easier depending on the financial situation someone is in. A forced pivot in most situations like you mentioned are stressful but can quickly become exciting if you are in a solid financial footing.

loved reading this and found it very helpful to breakdown career changes. Definitely was relative to me as someone who is unfortunately in a forced pivot while at the same time a bored and growth pivot because I do have this sense of wanting more and to become more fulfilled with my day-to-day job.

I'm glad it was helpful! I literally had the idea while I was in the grocery store parking lot and dictated it to myself. 😁 Because I think people talk about career pivots a lot (I certainly do), but it's important to frame *why* you're pivoting.

Most people think a pivot means burning everything down and starting over.

Really it’s just pointing the same engine in a slightly different direction and hoping nobody asks about the five years you spent going the wrong way.

Love how you’ve categorized pivots! The same pivot can fall into more than one category. I too have pivoted several times. I’m now building a resource center/community for career & business pivoters, and am hosting a free speednetworking event for reinventors.
