It’s been a long week. I’ve been fighting illness and wrapping up client work because I’m taking two weeks off at the beginning of July (which is sorely needed).
I was frantically trying to wrap up this week’s edition of Work. Better. I had an outline. I’d been collecting some research. And then I thought, “Why am I doing this?” It went against everything I talk about, which is to take care of yourself.
Then I was hard on myself. If only I could write my content further in advance — I’d have something ready to go, no matter how how I’m feeling! But that’s not my world right now (and honestly, sometimes I like responding to news stories as they happen).
So I’m heeding my own advice and taking a break this week. I’ll be back next week. In the meantime, here are a few things you can check out:
A Fresh Start to the Day by Fresh Starts Registry
How to Praise Idleness by my friend, Sarah Duran
Songs for Quitting by me, if you need a pick-me-up
Also, I’m currently obsessed with the song “Old Friends” by Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe, and Lindsay Mendez. Here’s the performance at the 77th Annual Tony Awards.
Take care of yourself, whatever that looks like for you. I’ll be back next week.
Most issues of this publication are free because I love sharing ideas and connecting with others about the future of work. If you want to support me as a writer, you can buy me a coffee.
If you love this newsletter and look forward to reading it every week, please consider forwarding it to a friend or becoming a subscriber.
